The help content for Windows Embedded 8 Standard has been updated to include:

  • Described the actions and events that add to UWF Overlay usage.
  • Added the requirement that users must take ownership of the UWF Master Servicing Script before they modify it.

  • Documented that UWF cannot be used with the Prevent installation of removable devices Group Policy.
  • Documented what users must do to allow UWF to work correctly with the Prevent installation of devices not described by other policy Group Policy.
  • Documented that BitLocker encryption and decryption operations should not run on a volume where EWF or UWF are enabled.
Install Instructions

The executable automatically starts the Update Tool to update the Embedded Toolkit.

Here are the steps to install the toolkit update without modifying existing user settings:

  1. Launch WindowsEmbedded8Standard-December_2015_Toolkit_Update.msp
  2. Select ‘Next’ button
  3. Select ‘Repair’ and click ‘Next’ button
  4. Select ‘Repair’ button
  5. Select ‘Finish’ button after it finishes the installation
Notes:
  1. Toolkit updates must be installed in the order they were released, so the December 2015 update must be installed after the previous updates in the following order:
    1. Sep 2013
    2. Mar 2014
    3. Nov 2015
    4. Dec 2015
  2. You may not be able to uninstall this update separately. If this happens, you may have to uninstall the whole Toolkit and reinstall the whole Toolkit and updates in the order above.
